THE REEL THING November 94
This will be a rather brief, but important, issue of the club bulletin.
A special thanks to those members who make every effort to attend our weekly meetings! It is sad to have to say that a number of our former 'regulars' haven't seemed to have been able to find a couple of hours on Wednesday evenings to come out to the gym with the rest of us to swap stories, tie flies, do a little casting and plan future trips and 'stuff'. Hopefully that will soon change and attendance will pick up again before too long.
The club trip to the Saugeen went well with Rick Matusiak taking a few lovely rainbows. John and Sheila were true conservationists however and didn't keep any, while I managed to fool a lovely fresh-run steelie with a tiny piece of sponge. Rick caught his 'bows on minnows, of all things! The meals were delicious and featured a sea food stir-fry loaded with wild mushrooms that we picked near Collingwood on the way up to the cottage.
I guess that by now everybody in the club knows that Rick Matusiak caught a brown trout weighing almost 35 pounds. it has been confirmed that it is a new Canadian record and a world record for 8 pound line. Congratulations, Rick. If there is anybody who hasn't seen Rick's videa, 'Jump' yet, give me a call. It's fabulous.
Scott Purcell and old buddie, Jim Lee, gave Beanpole a going over, but had to settle for pork and beans for supper
***DON'T FORGET THE IN-HOUSE CLUB CASTING COMPETITION, SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 23rd.
***UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE NOT IN THE GYM FOR THE NIGHT OF NOVEMBER 16TH. INSTEAD WE WILL HAVE A MOVIE AND BULL SESSION AT MY HOUSE FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO GET OUT ANYHOW. PLEASE LET EITHER SHEILA OR ME KNOW IF YOU WILL BE COMING.
