strange that it didn’t make the papers

this tragedy that has shattered our lives

no newscasters shared a downturned eye

nor shed a silent tear at our grief

our world which so suddenly stopped

for many others continued on unbroken

streams of ceaseless life flow unknowing

around we who now scramble to pick up pieces

and carry on in the face of our greatest loss
