Reconstruction Notes

After reconstructing the dance Ginevra I found that I had no music to fit it, but noted that with a little tweaking it would fit into regular 4 and 8 bar phrases, thereby going to any waltz of suitable duration. Enough changes had to be made that it was not really quite the same dance, so I changed the name as well. Differences from the original dance are noted below.

The 1st section was actually:
SSD Rev, back=SSD, Mezavolta into Voltacia, CC.
I dropped the CC to turn it into an 8 bar section (16 bars of waltzes), but then also moved one doppio to match the phrasing better. (The two sempii that change direction are now at the start of a phrase.) Unlike the original, it no longer moves as much forward as back, in each repeat, though still does when the section is repeated.

The 3rd section should have had a voltacia before the two doppii, which was dropped to make it fit the regular phrasing. (Choreographically, I think it is better with the voltacia still there.)

Section 4 had a reverenza dropped after the riprese. More dances do not have a reverenza here than do, so it was a relatively pain free adjustment.

Section 5 had a reverenza (with a touch of hands) dropped after the volta del gioioso, and a final reverenza also dropped. I preferred both of them choreographically, but to match the length and phrasing of the music, both wound up having to be dropped.

Recordings:

Any piece of waltz music of the right duration should do. I used Sylvi, from Waltz Time, Larry Unger and Ginny Snowe.
