SYNOPSIS

Monika is to join her fiancé, James Anstey, at the end of the week in Key West, where he is going to take her to meet his parents for the first time. Deciding she wants a few days to explore Florida on her own, she arrives in Miami on a Saturday, rents a car and heads a few miles north to Pompano Beach, planning to work her way down through the Keys and meet James on the following Saturday as they'd agreed. In the meantime, her first stop is the beach.
While on the beach in Pompano, Monika stumbles upon a dead body in the water. She is horrified. The police are called, but the man's body cannot be identified right away. Monika doesn't realize that the dead man is a clone of Dive Master Jesse Ehrlich, that was meant to be disposed of in the ocean and is part of a plot to kidnap the President of the United States. The kidnapping is being planned by a large computer software company called Microtech and a small group within the military and security forces of the United States. William Fence, CEO of Microtech, along with Major Britin a liaison officer for the military, Cedric Hemings, a Secret Service agent attached to the White House and Dr. Vernon Pearl, are all co conspirators.
In conjunction with the military, Microtech has secretly developed a new method to clone and download all memories and personality of a person. These memories can be uploaded into the clone, creating an almost perfect duplicate that is undetectable to anyone. Moreover, Microtech is able to modify the personality through the upload to make the clone replacement unknowingly do their bidding. The dead body in Pompano was a trial version of the Dive Master to be used in Microtech's scheme. The President is set to attend a ceremony at Fort Jefferson, seventy-eight miles off the coast of Key West. It is there during a dive, that the plot is to unfold.
Monika continues her trip after the experience in Pompano and goes to Key Largo where she hopes to dive at Coral Reef Park. While there, she hires a guide only to discover that he is the exact twin of the dead body she found in the water at Pompano. Monika has discovered a main player in Microtech's conspiracy without realizing it.
The conspirators, who are alerted to Monika's finding of the dead clone in Pompano and the duplicate in Key Largo, chase and capture her. They cannot afford to let her run loose and jeopardize their plans. She is imprisoned in an old abandoned naval base on Key West. While imprisoned, she comes upon the real Jesse Ehrlich who is incarcerated in the cell opposite hers.
Together they unravel the plot against the President. Escaping their imprisonment, Monika tries to contact James but is only able to leave him a message. She and Jesse realize they are now the only ones who can save the President.
Pretending to be part of the media covering the Presidential visit, Monika and Jesse make their way to Fort Jefferson. Once there, they run into a problem and make a startling discovery.
