RETIREES' CLUB EXECUTIVE (REXDALE BRANCH): Our Annual General meeting was held at the Mississauga Convention Centre, following the CSA President's Luncheon, on November 18, 2013. At this meeting the election of officers was held and the Club's Board of Directors for the year 2013 - 2015 is as follows:-

PRESIDENT: Ajmer Bal.

VICE PRESIDENT: Veni Christante.

DIRECTORS: Norm Kukay, Ron Pogue, Brian McCran, Fedora Morris, Tom Tabor & Terri Smith.

SECRETARY: (open).

TREASURER: Tom Tabor.

NOTE: The position of President is appointed from amongst the elected Directors by the Executive Committee. The positions of Secretary and Treasurer are appointed from amongst the elected Directors or the membership at large, by the Executive Committee.

BREAKFAST GATHERING: A social gathering for breakfast and friendly talk is held on the Second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. at the "SWISS PICK" located at 445 REXDALE BLVD. in the COMFORT INN (south-east corner of Rexdale Blvd. and Hwy 27.

CSA COMMUNITIES OF INTEREST: CSA has launched an online standards communities of interest to engage experts in discussions around standards, standardization and other aspects of the work we do. Registration is free, and just a few pieces of information are required. CSA RETIREES' CLUB ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON: Our Annual Christmas Luncheon location is again at the WESTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB, Fairway Dining Room. The Retirees' Committee cordially invites all of the CSA retirees and one guest each, to attend this festive event.

Passengers can be dropped off right at the door and parking is nearby. We have the whole dining room only for CSA. There is an adjacent lounge with a stone fireplace for our reception area. Self coat check is just down the hall. All is handicapped accessible.

Seating for this event is limited so we urge you to make your plans early as reservations will be on a "first-call basis". Details are as follows:-

NOTE:- The EMBA (Employee Mutual Benefit Association)has made changes that impact retirees. Going forward, retirees who want to continue to be members of the ENBA must pay annual dues of $58.50, which is a discount of 25% off the regular $78/year that employees pay. This would entitle you and a guest to attend EMBA events (ski trip, golf tournaments, Chistmas dance, Kids Chistmas party etc...) atthe EMBA price. Membership is voluntary. • A while ago I was given a picture of the earth at night. At the time I did not realize that the image had been re-sized to an unusually small one. Take a look at the real big image. It is far more dramatic, however, it will take a minute or more to download from Antwerp/NASA. See The Great Lakes in North America, the division of North/South Korea, and other population features on the earth by clicking on the link noted below.

• Take an amazing tour starting from a point in space millions of light years away, then zoom down to the planet Earth, then down to a tree, then down to a single atom in one of its leaves and so on. Each view is ten times smaller than the previous one. The show can be run automatically or manually sequenced. Click on the link noted below.

• THE UNIVERSE TRAIN - Imagine that each star in the known universe were a grain of sand. In this lilliputian cosmos, a thimble would hold all the stars visible on a clear, dark summer night and a dump truck would contain the Milky Way, the galaxy in which the Sun resides. To demonstrate all the stars in the known universe, we need a freight train with hopper cars filled with sand. The train begins to pass in front of us at a level crossing. We count the cars as we wait. The cars roar by, at one per second. The minutes pass, then the hours, then days. We would have to keep count 24 hours a day for three years before the universe train cleared the crossing. Long enough to stretch around the planet 25 times, the universe train would carry all the sand from all the beaches on Earth.

A woman in our diet club was lamenting that she had gained weight. She had made her family's favorite cake over the weekend, she reported, and they had eaten half of it at dinner.

The next day , she said, she kept staring at the other half, until finally she cut a thin slice for herself. One slice led to another, and soon the whole cake was gone.

The woman went on to tell us how upset she was with her lack of willpower, and how she knew her husband would be disappointed. Everyone commiserated, until someone asked what her husband said when he found out.

She smiled. "He never found out. I made another cake and ate half!"
