Fiore de Vertu

This is a ballo for two couples by Guglielmo Ebreo, which does not have music in the source. It is made to fit music invented for the dance. This reconstruction is more of an adaptation, especially the starting position, which is sufficiently unusual for the repetoire that they surely would have specified it if this was what they really wanted. It does, however, make the rest of the dance work more easily.

Start:  Couple 1 in front, Woman 1 on the left, Couple 2 behind them, with Man 2 on the left.

      Section I - 4 bars in quadernaria
4 Saltarelli Tedesci, starting on the left foot, ending with a quarter turn to face partner.

Section II - 4 bars in piva
4 Pive, doing a right hand turn with partner.
End right side to right side with partner, facing the side walls, not turning to face front.

Section III - 16 bars in bassadanza
Saltarelli Left + Right, ending with a Mezavolta Right,
Ripresa Left, Ripresa Right, Reverenza Left,
4 Saltarelli starting Left (the men passing through the middle), ending with a Mezavolta Right,
Reverenza Left,
Riprese Portugalese Left, Right, Left, ending in square formation again,
Volta del Gioioso, Reverenza Left.

Section IIII - 12 bars in piva
Partners take right hands, and circle with 4 Pive,
Man 1 with Woman 2, Man 2 with Woman 1 = take left hands, and circle with 4 Pive,
Partners take right hands, and circle with 4 Pive, again.

      Section V - 3 bars
Men Movimento, Women Movimento,
Doppio Left backwards, Doppio Right forward with a spin if you feel up to it (Guglilmo's famous finale figure.)

Repeat dance, Couple 2 leading.
